Week 9 of 2025 has seen a further increase in the volume of samples going through the Genotyping Lab. – Up an additional 12k on last week.
To date in 2025, 285,184 samples have been received in the lab.
Last week’s figures
- 90,295 calf samples were received into the lab.
- 89,389 calf samples were processed in the lab.
- The average time from birth to sample being received in the lab was 7.8 days.
- The average time a sample spent in the lab last week was 4.7 days.
- The average turnaround time from birth to passport being issued was 13 days
Key Messages:
- The turnaround times highlighted above are averages. Some samples will go through the process faster and some will go through slower.
- Farmers are advised to send samples at least twice weekly during the busy season.
- If running low on envelopes, farmers should contact their nominated tag supplier to order more.
