The Minister for Agriculture, Charlie McConalogue, will officially launch a number of positive changes to the EBI that have come about from extensive research and collaboration between ICBF, Teagasc, VistaMilk and AbacusBio. These positive changes will have a major impact on the dairy industry.
The main focus of the event is the introduction of a new Carbon Sub-Index as a component of the EBI. This is a world first and highlights that Irish farmers are leading the way in terms of their commitment to climate action. We will also take this opportunity to officially launch the Commercial Beef Value (CBV) on Mart Boards. This will take place alongside a live animal demo to visually highlight the CBV at work.
Topics that will be covered on the day:
- Carbon Sub-Index Model
- Beef Sub-Index Update
- Impact of changes on the EBI
- Future Improvements/Research
- Official launch of the Commercial Beef Value (CBV) on the Mart Boards
- Live animal demo on the CBV
Light lunch will be served as part of the event.
We would encourage all dairy farmers to consider attending this event as these will changes will have a major impact in how we as an industry, contribute to the reduction of global emissions.
We look forward to welcoming attendees to the event. If you would like to book your place, please register via the Eventbrite link below.
