Are you a suckler farmer participating in the Suckler Carbon Efficiency Programme (SCEP) and in the market to purchase a new stock bull or choosing AI sires to use in your herd?

Changes have been made to the Animal Search in order to help suckler farmers and breeders to trade scheme eligible stock bulls and to identify AI sires that meet the scheme eligibility criteria. This is very important to ensure that participating herds have a sufficient number of animals born in each scheme year from eligible sires.

The eligibility status of females can also be viewed prior to making any purchasing decisions by entering the full tag number of the animal on the Animal Search.

In addition to this, updates have been made to the SCEP Eligibility Profile for farmers to view the eligibility status of stock bulls in their herds, that do not have progeny born. This will be very useful to identify bulls that are currently in the herd which meet the sire eligibility criteria for each year of the SCEP scheme.
