If you wish to select alternative animals, there is a facility available in your ICBF account. Please complete this process by Sunday 11th of February
We are beginning the process of issuing Beef Data and Genomics Programme (BDGP) genotype tissue tags, with the aim to have as many tags out on farm before cattle are left out to grass. This will help ensure genomic evaluations are available for these animals in the Autumn.
BDGP participants will have received a report with a listing of animals which ICBF has selected for genotyping. Genotype tissue tags will issue for these animals except:
(i) Where animals have moved out of the herd/died before tags are printed.
(ii) Where higher priority animals enter the herd before tags are printed.
(iii) Where the farmer selects alternative animals via the ICBF website.
Selection criteria for pedigree herds has changed. Females will now be selected ahead of pedigree males. This is to ensure that pedigree herds have enough females genotyped by 31st Oct 2018.
If you wish to select alternative animals, there is a facility available in your ICBF account. A help sheet on how to complete this process can be viewed below. To guarantee any changes you may wish to make to your selection, please complete this process by Sunday 11th of February. If you are happy with the ICBF selected animals then no action is required.
Genotyping tags will be dispatched to farms from the last week of March. If you have any query on this process, please call us on 023 883 2883. If you require a pocket notebook you can text ‘notebook’ to 089-4577663 or call 023-8832883.
